Meet the Team: Fat Cat Flowers
December 28, 2017
On this week's "Meet the Team" we're introducing you to Diane of Fat Cat Flowers.
Meet Stella Preferred Vendor:
florist, Diane Mouton

Fourteen years ago, I had the opportunity to open my own Floral Studio – I knew I wanted to mix my passion for creativity with my knowledge of business. More than anything, I wanted to prioritize giving each customer a personalized experience where he or she can feel valued and heard when dreaming up the big event. I enjoy thinking outside of the box with clients, and doing things that haven’t been done before when it comes to floral design. I also appreciate going back to basics with simple, elegant and classic designs. Whichever end of the spectrum you fall on – I’m your florist!
After a lifetime of watching my father work for himself, I always knew I wanted to own my own business. I was an accountant for years, but when the opportunity arose for me to try out the florist life, I took it and ran! Fourteen years later, I’d like to say I’ve “seen it all,” but sometimes I feel like I’m just getting started. I have a great studio, complete with an all-star team (that includes my soon-to-be husband, and sometimes even my boys) and the cutest pup named Buster Brown.
What is your favorite thing about events at Stella Plantation: "Stella is the perfect combination of indoor and outdoor space. The grounds are lovely – and SO good for endless photo ops. The Lazy Tree is a great focal point for the ceremony, and I love that the guests then travel across the graceful, Southern lawn to the reception space. The best part is when the reception area can be completely opened up when the weather cooperates – it’s airy and wonderful."

What piece of advice do you give to couples getting married at Stella: "The space at Stella is flexible and easily transformable, so I remind my brides to be open-minded for design opportunities because it’s a place where any vision can come alive."

Tell us something you enjoy about events/weddings in general: "It’s an honor to be a part of people’s personal celebrations. I love meeting brides and their families, creating a plan together, and seeing their faces when everything comes to life – especially when I deliver the bouquets. There’s nothing like seeing the tangible satisfaction of my clients – my favorite are the happy tears!"

Tell us something you don't like: "I have to say, Pinterest is not my favorite thing because I believe it can sometimes stifle people’s creativity and individuality. You can go on and find a ready-made wedding, say “I want that,” and forget to insert your personal touch into the day. I believe a wedding should be an expression of the personalities and interests of the happy couple."
